Response to Elevator Incidents & Emergencies
Taught by true experts in both the elevator industry and fire/rescue, our instructors present a very informative, challenging course in management of elevator incidents. The focus is on trying to avoid making your response tactics from becoming responsible for escalating an incident to a true elevator emergency! Years of experience have enabled the instructors to gather numerous classroom props, in addition to, first-hand accounts of various types of incidents. The course includes terminology, elevator mechanics, safety devices, lock-out / tag-out procedures, elevator doors, technical rope skills, removing passengers, safe use of elevators during high-rise fire operations and more. Participants will experience hands-on rescue evolutions in actual elevators.
Rescue Tech: Response to Terrorism
This course is designed to provide new perspectives & applications
in technical rope rescue. Tactical approaches to terrorism as they relate
to rescue will also be incorporated. Instructors from both law enforcement
& the fire service. Perform rigorous evolutions in Texas Stadium,

An introductory level course for technical rope rescue systems and associated components. Develop a strong foundation of commonly used knots, hitches, anchor selection and indicated safety guidelines. Then bring it all together to understand mechanical advantage and the construction of hauling, lowering and belay systems. Numerous opportunities are provided to build and operate technical rope systems both from points of elevation and below grade. Certificate upon successful completion. This course can serve as a prerequisite for the Rope Technician courses.
Hands-on training in actual confined space sites. OSHA as a standard, hazard assessment, atmospheric monitoring, retrieval systems, patient packaging, harnesses, etc. Can serve as prerequisite for Rope Rescue Technician course.

Confined Space Operations - 8 hours
Explanation of CFR 1910.146 / OSHA. Interactive definitions of confined spaces vs. permit required confined spaces. Discuss potential hazards in confined spaces. Show examples of appropriate personal protective equipment. Explanation of atmospheric monitoring & ventilation requirements & protocols with hands on practice with atmospheric monitor. Material Safety Data Sheets, confined space entry permits, special permit for performing work that has a potential source of ignition. Discuss responsibilities of entry supervisor, attendant and entrant. Point out safety precautions unique to confined space entry (posting of permit, work area and point of entry secured, accountability of personnel & equipment, retrieval lines, etc.). Discussion about what to do if an emergency occurs and who conducts entry rescue vs. non-entry rescue. Hands-on instruction of knots, harnesses, mechanical advantage and basic hauling / lowering system. Remainder of class, hands-on practice in completing a confined space entry permit and then making or simulating a safe entry, followed by a non-entry rescue.
Train in actual trench with varying configurations. Course includes hazard assessment, scene safety, manufactured shoring, basic technical rope as it can be utilized in trench rescues, patient packing and more.
